IS LEGACY?
MISSION & HISTORY.
Legacy Youth Leadership (“Legacy”) is a nonprofit organization that is building better leaders who will build a better world. Legacy knows that young people are not just the future, they are the present. Legacy runs free leadership and mentoring programs in low-income school communities that teach students how to use their time, their money, their voice, and their vote so they can be leaders TODAY. We prioritize making our programs available to students living in low-income & underserved communities. Legacy’s Programs equip young people with the skills & experience they need to become college and career ready, provide them the mentorship they need to become entrepreneurs, and develop the tools they need to thrive in the world today.
Legacy Youth Leadership is building a generation of young people who are committed to developing their leadership skills so we can leave the world better than we found it. Legacy works with thousands of students every year around the world to develop leadership skills necessary to solve problems in students’ school, local, and global communities. Through the work of Legacy, we’ve seen students volunteer thousands of hours, raise tens of thousands of dollars, reach tens of thousands of people through awareness campaigns, and so much more.
WHY STUDENTS?
Young people are the most socially conscious and digitally connected generation the world has ever seen. We exist to develop students as leaders with very specific skills, so they can apply those skills to make meaningful change in the world.
WHY SERVICE?
Leadership means so many different things to so many people, but at Legacy, leadership looks a lot like service. The application of every Legacy program pushes students to serve in their school, local, or global community. Through volunteering, grassroots fundraising, advocacy campaigns, and civic engagement, our mission is not only to grow the capacity of our students as leaders, but we exist to push our students beyond their comfort zone to give of themselves in a meaningful way. Through the power of our students’ Time, Money, Voice, and Vote, we invite every student on a journey to become a better version of themself so we can make the world a better place.
