
SERVICE LEARNING TRIPS
🌍 Legacy Service Trips: South Africa & eSwatini
Legacy runs 10-day international service trips to South Africa and eSwatini in partnership with Thirst Project, giving students an immersive, hands-on learning experience to better understand global issues and see the impact young people can make right now.
Each trip combines five core elements designed to help students grow as leaders and changemakers. Details, logistics, and breakdowns are all below!

đź’¸ Trip Cost
$1,500 + Airfare (Roundtrip to eSwatini)
The $1,500 program fee includes: lodging, meals, ground transportation, safari, supplies, trip insurance, staff/guides, and tourism activities.
Airfare typically ranges from $1,500–$2,500.

Any student, teacher, or parent connected to Legacy or our partner, Thirst Project.

🗺️ Trip Elements (Itinerary Overview)
​
1. Local Leadership Training
Students learn from leaders across eSwatini — including government officials, school principals, medical professionals, and community organizers — to understand how a country tackles health, education, and development challenges.

2. Peer-to-Peer Leadership Experience
A full-day workshop at the University of eSwatini, where Legacy students collaborate with university peers on leadership concepts like goal-setting, strategic planning, and project-based learning.

3. Service Projects
Participants engage in meaningful hands-on work such as building a borehole well with Thirst Project and participating in high-impact community projects, including visiting a local refugee camp.
4. Cultural Immersion
Students experience the rich culture of eSwatini and South Africa through visits to Mantenga Cultural Village, traditional celebrations, agricultural tours, and local food, art, and music experiences.

5. Tourism & Exploration
Highlights include a safari in the world-famous Kruger National Park and a sunset hike at Sibebe Rock, the second-largest rock in the world.
